Art in Action donor group - studio visit at 1890 Bryant

We had an exceptionally fun studio visit this weekend with the wonderful Art in Action donor group from Palo Alto, organized by Pamela Hornik and Denise Shackleton. What else do you need on a Saturday but some coffee from coffee bar, great food catered from La Boulange, Mimosas, home made quiche (!) and two working studios full of artists and all kinds of interesting stuff- like Transamerica pyramids made out of Jell-O (it is Gel Wax, actually)?

Thanks to my fabulous studio mates Liz Hickok, Sarah Newton, Sonya Philip, Heidi McDowell, Jon McNeal and Kirsten Tradowsky who were there to entertain and share their work with us. Let's do this again soon.

ArtMRKT & ArtPad coming up this weekend

dear friends,

this Thursday, Art MRKT is opening for the first time at the beautiful Fort Mason Pavilion, and even if you really do not feel like seeing any more art you could probably still go, just because of the amazing location.

Here are some links to a few of the fabulous galleries showing there, just in case you needed free VIP tickets:

And while you are at it, why don't you swing by the Phoenix Hotel in the TL, to enjoy some real rock star flair and a lounge chair by the pool, surrounded by the motel-rooms-turned-galleries at ArtPAD.

Our friends at ArtSpan are providing discounted tickets here, your secret code is ArtPadSFFriends.

More news on upcoming shows soon. I am working on a few commissions, Portola (new cityscapes), the Dancers (new figurative work), a project for the America's Cup and I am trying some ideas for the August show at Arc Gallery (Four Square).

I hope your spring is going well. Have a great week and maybe I will see you at the fair!

officially obsessed with Cityscape #1 by RD

this is the second attack on RD's amazing painting and there might just be more- this is how I study painting. I sincerely hope you can forgive me for doing this. Wanted to paint mostly in black, white and gray - was not going so well... this is as little color as I could possibly do today.

study - weak attempt to paint Richard Diebenkorn's Cityscape #1 in mostly black and white - 48x36, acrylic on canvas.

at the studio these days- all set to start/finish a ton of projects

at Goethe Institute San Francisco - artists round table

working hard on our August show.

so fun to walk to work these days.
