The Portola paintings started last year in July. This month, I added more colors to the palette and got a better sense of where the series should be going.
Each piece can only be worked on for a short period of time per day- I often mix paint wet-in-wet directly on the canvas and need to allow curing time of several days for every layer before re-working an area.
The images below show the pieces set up to dry this afternoon. They are far from completed but it is clear what the next steps will have to be.
